Updating itunes 9 02
2.update to the latest software from within its own settings app. connect the new phone to i Tunes and restore from the last backup on the computer Thanks for your input. After that, I tried to update i Phone thru i Tunes again. So I installed the update directly through i Phone. So I set up my new phone as a 'new phone', then updated to the latest firmware, and then restored from backup.
setting up my new iphone 7 as a 'new phone' rather that trying to restore the settings from my old phone back up on i Tunes. I figured the error was because I updated the firmware on my old phone right before I backed up and tried to restore, and my new i Phone 7 still had the older version.
it will be at least 24 hours before i will be able to access my i Tunes. this is the second or third update in the last year that has caused this unbelievably slow updating thingy and it's really annoying now. admittedly, it is a large enough library, with just over 300GBs of music, resting on a 500GB USB2 external, but i cannot understand why it takes such a long time to read the database. this is the second or third update in the last year that has caused this unbelievably slow updating thingy and it's really annoying now. so i forced quit i Tunes and i switched round the USB connections and (despite a brief, frightful moment when the external failed to appear on the desktop until Disk Utility came to the rescue) i Tunes rebooted and loaded up the library faster than it even normally did. is it possible for USB ports to become slow and useless? all of the HDs are connected to the computer and one is connected to a hub. another update (9.1.1) and despite the external being solely connected i am again getting the unbelievably long "Updating Library" message. I have media files on a wireless Network Attached Server.Hi Test Ship, In i Tunes on your computer, look in the upper left at the bar that shows little icons for Music, Movies, TV etc., and click the "three dot" symbol there. You should see a drop-down menu that includes Apps. When the Apps display opens, you'll see a tab near the top center of the screen called Updates.
